There is always something incredible going on in the art room, and we really like to mix things up each class with different materials!! 3rd grade has just finished their first step in their Ancient Greek pottery lesson, over the break, I'm hoping everything dried safe and sound, and to the bisque firing they'll go!!
Kindergarteners have been working on all different kinds of lines. We're incorporating these to make up one giant snake.
And the Oh-SO-Talented 5th graders are taking their scientific inquiry on seismology and integrating it into cross-contour drawings. We've used Pumpkins and Squash to show off the sections.
Here's an update some with pictures, others are hiding in a very hot kiln right now... but what we've been working on...
Kindergarten has been finishing up their layered, texture owls.
First Grade studied Georges Seurat, who innovated the idea of pointillism. We used his ideas of pointillism in corn stalks.
Second grade has been working hard with making their topographic maps of the state of Georgia.
Third grade has finished making fossils, geometric shapes in clay, and this week we're moving onto making Ancient Greek Amphoras in clay.
Fourth grade have been working on beaded necklaces, where they found out what totem animal most symbolizes them right now, and they sculpted them out of clay. They are in the kiln now, and while we wait, we are not only making tons of beads, we are also doing a project for the 7 Habits, inspired by Keith Haring's work.
Fifth graders are finishing up their Social Studies Biography Portraits, and we'll be moving onto Cross-Contour Gourds and Pumpkins this week, and hopefully moving onto a very cool (possibly challenging) clay project too!!
