Join Addison Elementary’s SLT (Student Lighthouse Team) with this GREAT service learning project! They are heading up a Book Drive for the Lakota Indian Reservation in Allen, South Dakota. The greatest need is for books in Kindergarten to Third Grade, although all grade level books will be accepted. New or gently used books will be collected during the last week of March (27th -31st). Please help us fill American Horse School’s library!
In addition, if any family knows of a business or individual who would be willing to donate funds for shipping the books, please let us know! Excess books will also be donated to a local school or charity.
The students are trying out a new 3-D pen... it's been interesting and will take some practice. But at least the plastic is recyclable!! Also, there is always something cool when doing a reveal....whether it's in printmaking or using painter's tape. And I just got the biggest giggle from this painting, and wanted to share!! These kids are the best!!
Congratulations to those who won the ART Auction!! I am SUPER excited to have an afternoon of ART projects!!
Please make sure to check your email for further details!!
The students have been working hard on their projects, also showing off the beauty of integration. 3rd Grade uncovered their fossils. 2nd Grade has been working on learning the phases of the moon, and 5th grade has worked on monochromatic 3D paintings and techniques. 5th is also working on their cubic units, and learning how to calculate volume. 1st Grade has just finished up their hot chocolate mugs, just in time for the cold weather to come back through :) .
The next teacher auction items are coming too! Bidding is now open - Monday, February 6th from 2:30 - 4 is the After School Art Class with Miss Stoddard! And taking place on Friday, February 10th from 6-8pm, a Girls' Night Out Shenanigans After School with Mrs. Hallmark!! Check out the experiences and get more information at www.biddingowl.com/addisonelementary. If any questions, reach out to Laura Glancy, President at firstname.lastname@example.org
As always, details can be found on the Foundation website at www.foundation4addison.org. Thank you for supporting our Foundation's work to give us the Science Lab and other wonderful things!
All of our classes have been extremely busy working on various skills and projects!!
Kindergarteners have been very busy with their winter stockings. They have also been weaving, decorating, and mastering other fine motor skills.
First Graders have been working on their overlapping of ornaments, and depictions of spheres-with other personal touches.
Second graders have worked very excitedly on their yarn hats. I was so concerned about throwing out smaller pieces of yarn, so in order to use them and not have them end up in a landfill, we are making winter hats, and they are a perfect use of yarn monster!!
Third graders have been super busy working with clay, scratchboard, and winter snowflake eating!!
Fourth grade has finished their Native American tribe dioramas, maps, and Venn diagrams. They are now working on a series of bookmarks, using various techniques.
Fifth graders have just finished their clay masks, and are now working on a monochromatic painting. Just like we did with portraiture and then to gestural drawing, we are now working on a geometric monochromatic painting, and then a looser painterly project on the lower half.
Everyone has worked so very hard, so be on the look out when they start to take them home!!
