Please watch the slide show to see what we've been up to this week!! It's definitely been a week of double projects: finishing one up, and introductions to new ones.
Fifth graders are glazing their masks this week, and also developing their monochromatic painting ideas.
Kindergarteners have just finished glazing their animals are will be taking them home within the next week, plus we've started weaving with paper.
Our third graders have been finishing up the time machine works, and we'll be using iPads next week to investigate and visualize our state, Georgia.
Second Graders are taking their monsters home, and will take their wall hanging up next week. We are also finishing up our totem poles. I'm hoping we'll start displaying these in the media center next week.
First graders are using watercolors to "age" their mummies, and they will be taking those home this week too. They have also been working on portraits inspired from Giuseppe Arimboldo!! These are the fruit and Veggie portraits you may have seen, and it's also depicted in the movie, of the Chef's Soup character in Tale of Despereaux,
Lastly, fourth grade, oh my beloved fourth graders!! I'm not sure when it was that I learned to use a ruler, however I use one daily, and it is just such a great skill to learn. Btw, it is required that they know how to measure, do fractions, understand whole and parts to whole, and calculate area and perimeter...hint hint. Having said that, a student asked, "So we're going to do math in art?" OH YES!! Math is everywhere!! Architecture, design, measurements for pretty much anything 2-D or 3-D, graphic design, industrial design, engineering, landscape design, interior design, construction, baking and the culinary arts, films making, and so!! So our beloved fourth graders are creating irregular rectangles for the four color schemes. Each quadrant, or "room" will have its own color scheme: analogous, monochromatic, neutral, and complementary. We've been taking the measurements, next week it's PAINTING!!
